We select the best parcels of grapes from mature vineyards in the Barossa Valley to make this elegant and balanced Shiraz. The yields are low to maximise fruit intensity and the higher elevation of the carefully chosen sites ensures a long and slow ripening period.
The grapes were carefully sorted, destemmed and fermented on skins for two weeks. The wines were then aged in French oak hogsheads for 14 months before blending and bottling.
Aromas of blackberry, dark plum and violets with a hint of vanilla oak, dark chocolate and liquorice. The palate is powerful and vibrant with layers of black cherry and fruitcake spice, balanced tannins and a superb long finish.
The wine is chock-a-block with blackberry, plum, vanilla pod, dark cocoa and cedar characters with subtle notes of warm spice and tapenade. It’s impressively concentrated and lingering with excellent fruit power combined with silky texture and chalky tannins, leading to a persistent structured finish. Brooding and opulent. At its best: now to 2030.
