Citrus, white nectarine and oral high notes intermingle with some gingery spice and toasted cashews. The mouthfeel is poised yet concentrated with a delightful freshness and a fine chalky finish.
The grapes were grown in the Merricks Grove vineyard on a north-south facing block planted in 1995. The Chardonnay clone is P58 and vines were pruned using a mix of cane and spur pruning.
Handpicked, meticulously sorted and whole bunch pressed. Spontaneously fermented in a mix of new and old French barriques for savouriness and texture. Matured in oak for 12 months and after a rigorous selection process, only the most exquisite barrels were bottled with no fining and minimal filtration.

Gracefully elegant and poised, the wine shows white flesh nectarine, Gala apple, roasted cashew and brioche characters on the nose, leading to a concentrated palate that’s wonderfully weighted and expansive. It’s superbly structured by fine texture and bright acidity, finishing impressively long and refined. At its best: now to 2028.
This is the kind of wine that made Australian Chardonnay popular around the world. Big and bold styles – sunshine in the glass, with mouth-filling fruit matched up with plenty of oak. It is golden in colour and bursting with peach and nectarine fruits pumped up by butterscotch and vanilla oak complexity. The palate is then dry, full-bodied and creamy, with rich and voluptuous fruit underscored by tangy acidity. It is a crowd pleaser that will hit the spot for fans of old-school chardonnay.
