Sam has been involved for the past 30 years in New Zealand hospitality, wine retail, importing and distribution, as well as running wine courses and master classes. All wines are tasted blind by Sam Kim in his home office, and the notes are solely written by him unless otherwise stated. Each wine is rated out of 20-points then converted to 100-point and five-star scales – two of the most effective and easy to understand rating systems.
Pristine and delightfully lifted, the bouquet shows lemon peel, crunchy apple, oatmeal and subtle jasmine notes, followed by a brilliantly focused palate that’s concentrated and richly textured. It’s beautifully balanced and harmonious with a lengthy mouth-watering finish. At its best: now to 2025.
Sweetly fruited and seductively complex, the wine shows red cherry, ripe strawberry, anise, dark mushroom and roasted nut characters. The palate displays excellent weight and depth, together with refined mouthfeel and fine-grained tannins, offering terrific harmony and length. At its best: now to 2028.
The wine is chock-a-block with blackberry, plum, vanilla pod, dark cocoa and cedar characters with subtle notes of warm spice and tapenade. It’s impressively concentrated and lingering with excellent fruit power combined with silky texture and chalky tannins, leading to a persistent structured finish. Brooding and opulent. At its best: now to 2030.
This substantial offering exhibits dark fruit richness with vanillin oak, cake spice, potpourri and chocolate tart aromas on the nose, followed by an immensely powerful palate that’s dense and plush. The wine displays outstanding depth and complexity, finishing magnificently long and symphonic. At its best: now to 2035.
